Beyond Any Concept

From the contemplative point of view, remaining within “the freshness of the present instant” helps us to recognize the mind’s empty and luminous nature and the transparency of the world of phenomena. This nature is immutable, not in the sense of being a sort of permanent entity, but because it is the mind’s and phenomena’s true mode of existence, beyond any concept of coming and going, being and not being, one or many, beginning or end. ~ Matthieu Ricard

Anger…

A Zen disciple approached his teacher. “Master, I have an uncontrollable temper.
Can you help me overcome it?”

“Hmmm, that’s strange. Can you show it to me?” asked the master.

“Not right now.”

“Why not?”

“It occurs suddenly.”

“Then it can’t be a part of your true nature,” said the master. “If that were the case, you wouldn’t have any difficulty in showing it! Why do you allow something that isn’t yours to worry you?”

Thereafter, the master’s words would come back to the student whenever his temper rose. Soon, he learned to check his anger and developed a placid temperament.

The Swivet [Colleen Lindsay]: When compassion dies, we’re all lessened as human beings: why we need gay marriage now more than ever.

I am passing Colleen’s blog post on… so you can be aware, be compassionate, be kind, be mindful of how we treat others is a reflection of how we treat ourselves.

It is not okay to treat beings in a ‘less than’ way. To do so is to deny our Supreme Being in what ever we perceive her/him/them.

Thought Provoking

  • Everything that happens around us is the mandala.
  • Our speech is the deity’s mantra
  • Our body is the deity’s body.
  • Out thinking is the mind of the deity.
  • When life flows back that is the mandala flowing back into the balance.
  • All tensions cancel each other.
  • Everything is eternally moving canceling opposing forces.

On Life’s Journey

On life’s journey Faith is nourishment, virtuous deeds are a shelter, wisdom is the light by day and right mindfulness is the protection by night. If a man lives a pure life nothing can destroy him, If he has conquered greed nothing can limit his freedom.-Buddhist Quote
